Step 1: Emergency Shelter
Shalom House's Emergency Shelter Program is the only 24-hour full service residential program for chronically homeless women with mental illness and chemical dependency in the City of Saint Louis.

Step 2: Transitional Housing Program
Shalom House's Transitional Housing Program provides a 24-month, semi-independent rehabilitation housing program for homeless women with a serious and persistent mental illness and/or chemical dependency; the program is certified by the Missouri Department of Mental Health.

Step 3: Aftercare Program
Through Shalom House's Aftercare Program, graduates receive one-on-one supportive services for at least 6 months to ensure their ability to remain permanently housed. After moving into permanent housing, Shalom House graduates are invited to join the Shalom House Alumna Association (dubbed "The Butterflies") which meets monthly to continue encouraging one another by engaging in education and service.
NEW Program: Permanent Supportive Housing
In partnership with the City of Saint Louis and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Shalom House is launching a 30-unit scattered site Permanent Supportive Housing Program which will provide clients with permanent housing in addition to intensive supportive services.

A Typical Week at Shalom House
In addition to meeting with Shalom House clinical staff, visiting health professionals, participating in recovery programs, and attending support groups, during the day Shalom House residents may be working at a job, learning at school, studying for a class, volunteering in our community.

Mondays
5:00 p.m. Bible Study (optional and open to all residents and graduates)
7:30 p.m. Narcotics Anonymous (NA) (open to all residents and other females in the community)
*Transitional Housing residents are required to attend 3 NA meetings each week
Tuesdays
10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Skills Class (Emergency Shelter residents only)
1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Computer Training in on-site Computer Lab
2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Job Readiness Training (Transitional Housing residents only)
3:00 p.m. Yoga/Mediation (open to all residents)
5:00 - 6:00 p.m. Skills Group (Transitional Housing residents only)
7:00 - 8:00 p.m. Job Readiness Training (Emergency Shelter residents only)
Wednesdays
2:00 - 4:00 p.m. medical screening by Grace Hill Neighborhood Health Program
2:00 p.m. Skills Small Group Classes, alternating topics: healthy eating and effective communication (Transitional Housing residents only)
5:00 p.m. Community Meeting (women meet by program - Emergency Shelter or Transitional Housing)
7:00 p.m. (Transitional Housing residents)

10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Computer Training in on-site Computer Lab
2:00 p.m. "A Woman's Worth" Support Group (Transitional Housing residents)
