2009 Highlights

Our 2009 annual signature event “There’s No Place Like Home” was held on Thursday, October 8 at Meadowbrook Country Club in Ballwin. The event was emceed by Y-98’s Guy Phillips, with auctioneering duties handled by Pasta House Co. co-founder Kim Tucci. Jazz entertainment was provided by band leader Dr. Thomas George, Chancellor of University of Missouri – St. Louis.

We presented two very important awards. Kirkwood United Methodist Church received the “2009 Shalom House Community Impact Award” for its tremendous support during 2009 – including organizing the organization’s Emergency Shelter pantry, landscaping, remodeling an old closet into a useable office space.
Brian Hill of Manchester, MO was awarded the “2009 Earline Falker Volunteer of the Year Award” (named after long-time Shalom House volunteer Earline Falker) in recognition of his years of dedicated service to the organization, which has positively transformed Shalom House into what it is today.

This elegant and mission-driven evening was completely client-centered with residents serving as greeters and silent auction volunteers and personal testimonies and anecdotes from all Transitional Housing Program residents. Greg Kiger of once films created breath-taking photos and a documentary of one woman’s story, which touched the hearts of all.

Congratulations 2009 honorees: Kirkwood United Methodist Church and Brian Hill!
And a BIG thank you to everyone who supported the event!
